Regarding materials: there are various protection types.

Pouches and ‘top-loaders’: place each valuable card in a polypropylene pocket (flexible pouches), then for most precious cards, use a rigid top-loader.

Binders and boxes: for storage, use acid-free binders or non-acid cardboard boxes. Avoid overcrowding to prevent bending. Avoid PVC: PVC releases plasticizers that yellow and stick to cards. Different binder types exist for cards or slabs.

The ‘Deck’: box used by players who organize their cards to play and challenge others.

The ‘slabs’: these are plastic holders providing dust protection, stacked to avoid alteration over time. These holders are delivered by grading companies themselves along with a note on the card’s condition and rarity. For example, major American grades include (PSA, Beckett BGS, SGC)… but also French grading companies: PCA, MTG, CCC, CollectAura…

Inventory and labeling: maintain a file (spreadsheet or software) with photos, grade, condition, provenance. Note value, acquisition date, serial number if applicable. Additionally, Epic-NFC app allows access to cards via Android app.

Care tips regarding storage and maintenance:

For cleaning: gently clean with dry microfiber cloth; avoid liquid products that damage paper.

Recommended storage is vertical: store cards vertically (like books) to reduce pressure and deformation.
